IELTS Writing task 2 Practice 3 RH bottle number 2

Q: Some people think that personal happiness is directly related to economic success. Others argue that happiness depends completely different factors. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

All people have a goal in life which in turn commonly interpreted as their source of happiness. With these goals, people have subconsciously set a standard for their lifestyle and could define their contentment. Economical abundance in life is the common aim of people who think that would give them the satisfaction that they deserve.

In addition to this, one perfect example is the purpose of having a good foundation for education. It is common notion that a good education does indeed land you in an occupation that could grant your financial needs, if not wants. Most people set this as a stepping stone to find a way to get ahead in life.

Furthermore, once getting the jump start they need through high quality education, people can finally get anything they want. Ironically in some cases, even emotions can be bought particularly affection and fidelity. As regards to this, many people define this as happiness and contentment in their lives.

In contrast to this, not all of this could go to the proverbial happy ending. In my own experience, a simple breakdown on the financial status of my family almost broke us apart. It is a fact in my life that had made me realize that life and happiness can never be calculated with monetary value.

Moreover, I have a friend that found happiness in spite of the financial slump that he had been in. Despite the fact that life is hard economically, I cannot fathom the fact that they are content as long as they are together,as husband and wife, no matter what the condition of their lives are.

Therefore, I conclude that satisfaction that comes from financial success doesn't define happiness. Economical fulfillment doesn't matter as long as people know the definition of love and the value of the company they keep.

Q: Shortage on housing causes severe social consequences. The government should act on this alone. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give your opinion.

Shelter is a basic need of people in any walks of life. Lack of necessary housing is caused by many factors in the economic balance in a country. On the other hand, the demand it creates causes the market to evolve to provide this necessity for the people.

As regards to this, the real estate industry has started to grow to make a profit out of this growing demand. I myself have worked in the real estate industry and I know the advantages in the business. Competition has been high and the standards set by this trend made quality results that meet the need of the public.

Furthermore, the assistance of the private sector to address the need of providing every family an abode of their own greatly alleviates the situation of the growing nation. Land developments have been progressive and roads are built without the need of government assistance. Rural areas have been developed into suburbs hence increasing the value of land as well as the quality of life of its inhabitants.

However, I strongly believe that despite the movement of private corporations, the government still plays a major factor in this development. The economy is a crucial factor as it sets the market value of the products sold to the clients. The government is responsible for the state of the nation, hence weak economy spells inflation causing the prices to go up.

Furthermore, in spite of the growth provided by the real estate companies, the consumers that they could only cater to are the ones who are rich and have enough income to pay for their dues. As a matter of fact, these corporation's favorite customers are the ones going abroad who are earning the needed amount to afford expensive payments leaving the poor, which comprises the majority of society, homeless and deprived of the basic human need.

Therefore, I conclude that to be able to cater to the needs of the people in all walks of society, the government should play a big role on the issue of habitation. If the economic growth is appropriate, it should also affect the living conditions of the general public.

Q: Going overseas for university study is an exciting prospect for many people. But while it may offer some advantages, it is probably better to stay at home because of the difficulties a student inevitably encounters living and studying in a different culture. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement and give you opiion.

Education is an important aspect in all people. It is a fact that, second to physiological needs, knowledge is indeed what builds a person's worth. It is not a questionable fact that some people do go through necessary sacrifices to achieve a higher level of learning.

Hence some people, provided that that they have the necessary minimum resources, do push through with studying abroad despite of the sacrifices as well as trials that they have to face. As a matter of fact, most of my fellow examinees are applying for a student visas to study abroad no matter how hard it may seem to venture into unknown territory. This just simply shows that no matter what happens, as long as there is a goal ahead to achieve, there should always be a way.

However, I think that to achieve success does not necessarily mean a better education abroad. Education does not necessarily define a person's character. I have read in an article an exchange student who got a scholarship in a prestigious university in U.S. got derailed in his path towards a proper education. Having away from his family, he got into vices and and other bad elements that destroyed his hope for a bright future. It is unfortunate that his parent's sacrifices are forfeited because of his being exposed on a different culture.

Therefore I believe that study in abroad doesn't necessarily spell success in the long run. Building a person's character should stay side by side with education in order for them to be able to attain their goals in life and chances are, a family's guidance is needed.
